Dear Parents
A warm welcome back to everyone and a special welcome to new pupils and parents.

School started very smoothly with pupils settling in well and enjoying being back with their friends.

The holiday works undertaken around the school have been most productive.  In conjunction with City of Harare, we provided the materials and transport for the road marking outside the school and at the intersection, as these are danger areas for parents bringing pupils to school.

The school as everyone can see, has been painted including all the classrooms and the whole of the exterior of the school and walk ways.  A very high quality washable paint has been used that will not only last many years but can be washed to keep the school looking clean.  The outside walkway pavings to the school buildings and the hostel have been re-laid using specialist paving bricks. This was necessary as the previous bricks were disintegrating and becoming dangerous.

The PTA have very kindly provided fifteen new tables and bench sets for the paved area in front of the hall.  In addition to previous uses, pupils bringing packed lunches will eat their lunches there from now on, under supervision.

The indoor hockey facility was fenced during the holidays as the rear car park has been completed except for parking markings.  The laying of the indoor hockey turf is currently being done.

Finally, our buses have been painted and are in the process of being wrapped.  The big bus is looking stunning.

The Afternoon Activities Timetable, the Term Calendar, Day Boarding return and lunch letters are attached and being forwarded in hard copy.  Day Boarding and lunch returns to be returned by Monday please.

Afternoon Activities begin on Monday.  Please be reminded that afternoon activities are compulsory and excuse notes from parents are required if a pupil is to miss an afternoon activity.

Also starting next week are the extra activities offered, including Modern Dancing, Ballet, Pirates Swimming Club, Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics and drama.  Parents are encouraged to make use of these facilities as the benefits to pupils are enormous.

Modern Dancing will be putting on a combined school production at REPS this term and Pirates Swimming Club, open to boys and girls from all schools, will be from 5:00pm – 6:00pm Mondays to Thursdays at Bishopslea.

On Monday we will be offering hearing and vision screening for all ECD and Grade 1 pupils.  A signed consent form, forwarded with every ECD and Grade 1 pupil today, will be required.  Bishopslea is offering this service as vision and hearing problems inhibit pupils’ progress significantly and often go undetected.

Our Grade 7’s go on their Environmental and Leadership Camp to Tree of Life next Tuesday, returning next Friday.  We wish them a most enjoyable and informative camp.

Thank you
Our grateful thanks go to Mr Mandivenga for giving our Grade 7’s a talk this morning on mushroom growing as part of the Agriculture syllabus.
