Dear Parents

We have now come to the end of term and look forward to our first official break since starting our distance-learning program on 11th January for teachers and 18th January for pupils.  This has been the longest period of teaching and learning in living memory.  Congratulations must go to our pupils, teachers, staff and, indeed, our parents for the incredible efforts, and adaption to new situations shown by all.

The results have been very obvious in our recently held internal exams as will be seen on the pupil’s reports that will be going home with them today.  The exams and reports are the true measure and reflection of our success and that we have been able to keep nearly every pupil up to date with regards to the syllabus and to the standards expected of Bishopslea.

It is very obvious that everyone desperately needs and richly deserves a break at this time though.

We have given out certificates for Inter-House Bonds and Tables, Inter-House Spelling, Inter-House Shona Word a Day, Allied Arts Certificates and place certificates based on exam results in our ‘bubble’ assemblies this week.  These have acknowledged our pupil’s efforts and achievements and have given everyone a sense of getting back to normal as well as great pride.

We hope that the current situation not only remains but improves when we return on 28th June.  However, whatever the circumstances prevailing at the time, I feel confident that we will all face them with the courage, conviction and determination that has enabled our successes so far.
